We’re days into the new year, and already, it’s different than most. Instead of trying to start the year with a bang, I’m intentionally easing into it very slowly.
Doing a lot of thinking and reflecting and not working, working, working like I always do.
I usually make a point to get a lot done most days, but I think I’ve also been very busy lately.
The thing about being busy is: it’s easy to be busy without really being effective.
I don’t want that to be me.
There’s so much I want to do in 2017, but I don’t want to spend the entire year busy or working all day every day without necessarily being effective.
I want plenty of time to rest, read, and enjoy some down time.
I want to make 2017 about working smarter, not harder.
I’ve never picked a word of the year, really. Last year, I thought of PRODUCE, and how I wanted to get a lot done and write a ton of new words. But I never made that official or wrote it anywhere. Honestly, I kind of forgot about it.
This year, I want to be more intentional about having an overall focus for the year, and the world PURPOSE keeps bubbling up in my mind.
I want the things I do on a daily basis to have purpose.
I want my time to have purpose.
I don’t want to spend hours on Facebook or doing other mindless browsing on my phone when I could be doing something more meaningful.
I don’t want to Google something and resurface later realizing two hours have gone by, and it’s my kids’ bedtime and there goes my time with them for today.
I want to cut back on the meaningless distractions and hone in on what’s important for my business, my health, and my family.
I want my daily schedule to be filled with work that has purpose.
When I spend time with my husband or kids, I want to be focused on only them.
And when I get up in the morning and go through my new routine, I want that routine to be for a specific purpose: to get me ready to work on moving my business forward day by day.
That’s my word for 2017. What’s yours?
