Camp NaNoWriMo 2015: Day 11

Totally overslept after getting home from watching the Furious 7 movie. Pretty good. And sad. But enjoyed a night off and then getting to sleep in. And then I proceeded to procrastinate all day as much as possible because, ugh, I just did not feel like writing. I went grocery shopping. I helped clean the house. I worked out. But mostly I just lay on the couch, not wanting to write.

At almost 8pm, I finally did sit down to write. About two hours (with breaks/distractions) and 1767 words later, I got up to put a very tired and upset toddler to bed, taking a small break. Then I came back to my chair and finished off the session with 700 fast words in about twenty minutes.

I broke the 10k mark and finally entered the double digits. Which means I'm 20% done with this manuscript. If it's a 50k manuscript. It might still be a novella. I'm not sure at all. But if I do happen to end the story way early, say 30-40k, then I'll take a couple days off to outline another book and then get started on revisions while I got this momentum going.

That's another thing. I want to keep this momentum going on indefinitely. I want writing two thousand words on a daily basis to become my norm. In the past, I've written on and off on a daily basis. Two or three months at a time, I'll stick to it and get a book written, or revised and published. And then I won't work on my writing at all for the next couple of months until the guilt overcomes me and I'm back at it.

It can be tough with the day job, but if I've been able to work on my writing consistently on a daily basis for several weeks now (about two months), then I can definitely keep doing it. It just means being able to say no to other commitments, which I've had to do. But I'm glad I've done because it means I get to come home and have time to work on writing stuff for a couple of hours and still have time to workout and spend with family.

I feel like this year is going to be my year. I'm going to produce books way more consistently, learn to write better stories, and eventually, those increasing sales are going to start coming in. It's just a matter of time. And a matter of sitting down on a daily basis to do the work. I know I can do it. And I will do it.
